THUMBTack
Thumbtack is an online service that matches customers with local professionals. Previously, Lauk Haus designed their brand illustration style, but needed ongoing support with executing illustrations across the platform. As part of this effort, I was enlisted to create illustrations for their professional mobile onboarding flow.

Process
According to the style guidelines, the different steps for the local professional onboarding flow used the “medium spot” size. I focused on coming up with visual metaphors for “attracting leads.” Leads, funnels and pipelines were new terms for me. After a round of feedback, I shifted my focus on communicating the other benefits of “setting up your profile” mentioned in the copy. These benefits included being able to search for gigs, or targeting customers interested in their service.
Final Deliverables
In the final round of feedback, we decided to instead focus on the emotional benefit of marking a task as done. As finishing polish, I added textures to mimic the materials that Thumbtack professionals use such as sandpaper.
